It is 9/11 again and we sympathize with the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy. It is twenty-five years since the havoc shook the world, yet it seems like yesterday. qWe sympathize too with the USA and our fellow professional estate agents who are all part of this tragedy. Not only because of precious lives lost, but the recurring nightmares for those who survived it
It is 9/11 again and we here in far away Nigeria remember our loved ones who sought greener pastures in USA. And were caught in the terrorist crossfire with other innocent Americans. We also mourn other Nigerians and Africans who were undocumented but lost their lives in the disaster.
In addition, we painfully moan at the willful destruction of properties worth billions. Because we are providers of shelter, we can not ignore that part of the tragedy. Yes, the buildings are and were insured, we still mourn and moan at the willful waste of lives and properties. No one talks about the waste of property because they can be replaced but human lives can never be replaced. Every being is one of a kind and can never be replicated. They can be like but not the same person.
Though loss of life supercedes loss of property waste of property is the next worst worst thing. Just the pain you feel when redoing the structure can not be shared or explained in this situation. Though the WTC was probably restored with more up to date materials, the vibe would never be the same again.
In closing, we all came out and are coming out stronger and wiser from this unforgettable pain. It is twenty-five years ago but tears and caution are still our bane. We say “we” and “our” because the world still weeps with America because we are reminded of how fragile life really is. And realize that even one of the strongest countries in the world can suffer such a devastating tragedy.
Finally, may the souls of the departed rest in peace.
